Chapter Sixteen- The Rector’s Query

Mr. Graham blinked, “You’ve met?”

I nodded, keeping my face straight, “We may have run into one another in the hall.” I heard him snort at the literacy of that statement, “Only briefly, though.”

The Rector nodded, “Well, Tom, this is Danny Jones. He just moved here from Bolton, and needs a guide around the school. Danny, this is Tom Fletcher, one of my best students and- hopefully- your guide.”

“Yeah. Sure,” I said easily. I held out a hand to Danny, “Nice to meet you.”

He stood up, and shook it, “Same to you.” I took him in properly now. He was about the same height as me, with a slim face and straight brown hair that fell over his forehead and partly into bright light blue eyes. His lips seemed to be naturally curved, and were grinning at me again with straight, white teeth. He was, to put it simply, amazingly hot.

“Danny is in most of your classes except for one, I believe. So I would like you to show him around, and generally make him feel welcome.”

I smiled at Danny, releasing his hand, “I’m sure I can manage that.”

“Of course, you’ll have to meet the others. You and Liam’ll get on like brothers!” Kerry Lawson gushed at a baffled and bemused Danny. I grinned, leaning back in my chair.

He didn’t need any help in integrating into this school, and I wondered why he hadn’t ditched me already. She had pounced on him as soon as we had entered, only shutting up momentarily when she had been ordered to. Kerry was harmless, really. Just a bit of a blabbermouth.

The bell went off, signifying the end of English as well as the start of break. We had had Maths together first thing. I patted Danny on the shoulder, “See you in Music. Good luck.”

My locker was just across from the English classroom, so I meandered over to it and pulled it open; musing over the boy I’d just left in Kerry Lawson’s clutches. As well as being downright gorgeous, Danny had also proven himself to be funny and very interesting. If he was gay, I’d have him already. However, he seemed to enjoy looking at the females.

I had just closed my locker when a pair of hands slid over my eyes, making me jump. “Surprise…” a breathy voice whispered in my ear.

I felt my lips curve, “Hey, birthday boy.”

The hands slid down, draped themselves over my shoulders, “Did I tell you that you’re amazing as well?”

I grinned, “If not for that reason, you’ve definitely said it before. I was just doing James a favour.”

“By giving me one of the best kisses ever?!”

I cocked my head back to look him in the eye, “It wasn’t bad, was it?”

“Wanna do it again?” he asked hopefully.

I laughed, “I don’t think James would like that very much.” Sensing someone looking over at us, I turned my head to see Danny standing by the English classroom, his eyes on us. I flashed him a quick grin.

“Yeah, but you know if you called I would be yours,” Matt was purring, tracing circles on the top of my chest with one finger. He noticed my glance, and followed it. “Yummy!”

“Oi! Hands off, greedy!” I warned him, jabbing my elbow back into his ribcage at the eager look on his face. “If he’s gay, I’ve got dibs on him.” I looked back at him as I said this, even though I could feel that Danny’s gaze was still on me.

“We could share,” he said with a pout, still staring at Danny with no shame.

“You touch him and I’ll tell James you said you’d dump him for me.”

His pout only deepened, “Mean.”

I leaned back to kiss his cheek, “Run along.” He grinned, giving my shoulders one last squeeze before releasing me and heading off to the park just next to the school, where his friends hung out at break. I felt my eyes watch his arse as he walked off. It wasn’t like he minded, and- besides- it was a nice arse!

Danny leaned on the lockers next to me, “You are aware how evil it was to leave me in there with her?”

“But satisfying,” I responded with a grin, starting along the corridor, expecting him to fall into step next to me. “Why didn’t you come over and meet Matt?”

He shrugged, “You just looked so cosy. I didn’t want to interrupt.”

“He wouldn’t have minded. He was perving on you already.” I laughed as he flushed pink, “Don’t be embarrassed that he thinks you’re fit. Be complimented.” With a pat on the shoulder, I grinned, “He’s harmless. And he has a boyfriend who he adores.”

A look of shocked confusion crossed onto Danny’s face, “You’re not his boyfriend?”

“No…”

“But-” He made a wild gesture, “The-”

“He’s kind of my semi-official stalker,” I admitted. “We joke around, but we’re not dating. Do we give off that vibe? I may have to look into that. Can’t have people thinking that… I’ll never get another date. He’ll be thrilled, mind.”

Danny flushed again, this time from humiliation at grasping the wrong end of the stick, “Well, that was the impression I got…”
