Chapter Twenty-Two- Danny’s Confession

“Ma chambre,” Danny announced heartily, striding in ahead of me. After the film, he had invited me back, and I’d seen no reason not to accept. “Want a drink?”

I smiled at him, “Yeah. Please.”

His grin was vibrant, “Make yourself at home.” He left the room.

I smiled to myself gently. It had been a good night, and Danny and I still seemed to get on really well, despite the fact I only really saw him at school. I didn’t care if Danny was gay or not- he was a good friend to have.

I wandered around his room, admiring his impressive CD collection, and looking at the multitude of pictures that decorated his walls. One set of pictures caught my attention, and I walked over to take a closer look.

They were a collection of pictures of Danny and a boy with white blond hair- so much so that I suspected it was bleached. They all appeared to have been taken on the same day. There were ones of them messing around, ones of them smiling at each other, a few of them laughing with one another, one where the blond boy was kissing a laughing Danny on the cheek, and- one that shocked me a little- one where they seemed to be full-on kissing.

My heart rate increased. Did this mean what I thought it did? Or was my apparent infatuation with Danny just showing me what I wanted to see?

“That’s Dave,” Danny said at my shoulder, making me jump. When had he gotten back?

“Was he your-?” I asked curiously, motioning to the kissing picture.

“Best friend. Boyfriend,” he confirmed. “But then my dad got transferred here, and we knew the long distance thing would be too hard. We still talk, but as friends.”

I turned to look at him, “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be.” He smiled at me, handing over a can of juice.

“So you’re bi, then?” I asked, sitting down on his bed to open it.

He nodded, “Yeah, I guess. But Dave’s been my only boyfriend. He was just…”

“The only one that appealed,” I finished. He looked shocked, though he didn’t say whether I was right or not. I took a sip of my juice, “Still, at least you have a pick of almost all of the female student body- all of whom would kill to have you.”

He shrugged, leaning against his desk and staring into his can. “None of them seem to appeal, either,” he said quietly.

I frowned, “Oh, come on. You’re teenage. You can’t not fancy any of them. What about the one hanging off you today?”

“She just won’t leave me alone. Keeps telling everyone we’re dating.”

“You’re not?”

He snorted in amusement, “She wishes.”

I grinned back at him, “So do all the others. Come on. There must be someone in JC you like…”

He nodded shyly, “There is.”

I leaned forward in interest, “Who? I’m assuming it’s a female since-” My jaw dropped as he shook his head, a sly smirk creeping onto his lips. “It’s a guy?! Who?!”

“When I broke up with Dave, I thought I would never like another guy in that way. But then I met him, and I just kept thinking about him, even when I was dragged off to sit with the popular zombies.”

I frowned blankly, “Who is it?”

Danny shook his head in pity, then moved to straddle me on the bed, rendering me speechless. “Let me give you a clue,” he said smoothly, brushing my hair out of my eyes. “He just got amazing new hair.”

Then his mouth was on mine, his tongue tasting my lips, before entering my mouth. I was numb with shock for a moment, before I started to move my lips against his, my tongue against his. I brought a hand up to pull him further into the kiss, enjoying every moment of intimacy before I forced myself to pull back.

“Before we get into anything, I need you to promise that I’m not just serving as an outlet to your feelings for Dave.”

He looked insulted for a moment, then considered and nodded, “Fair enough. I promise that I see you as nothing but who and what you are.”

“Great. Now kiss me again.”
