Chapter Nine
A loud beeping flooded through
the Rediunyn Jr. house. A sort of alarm. Matt stared around himself. Andrea dragged her gaze off the TV, where Buffy the Vampire
Slayer was on. “Damn. I like this episode.”
“What does that mean?”
Matt asked her.
“Red alert. Means we’ve
been called out to sort out a crime that’s happening right now.”
Matt stared at her, “Then
shouldn’t you be moving…”
“We all meet in here when
this happens. I don’t have to move.” She turned off the TV, “Now, stop trying to understand things you never
could. I know what to do. I’m not a Human or anything.”
“Am I meant to be offended
by that?”
She shrugged, “Up to you.”
She stared at him, almost willing him to say something. He didn’t take the bait, and looked down at his book. He could
sense Andrea’s smirk. A door opened and a few people ran in. Stacey turned on her laptop, which was sitting on the table.
“Okay, guys,” she
said once everyone had assembled. “We have a robbery in a warehouse on the San Isle. Shouldn’t take us long. I
found a blueprint of the building…”

Once they had gone, Matt wandered
into the kitchen. Stacey was in the computer room, partly to keep an eye on the mission, and partly just in case any of the
killers turned up. Stacey was Human, sure, but Matt had watched her sparring with Martin in the gym, and she could hold her
own pretty well. Matt considered being healthy and pouring himself a glass of soya milk, but decided against it. Deryck was
allergic to milk, so they didn’t keep it in the house. Matt grabbed a can of Pepsi out the fridge and headed back into
the living room. There was movement behind him. He spun round. Nothing. “Jay?” he called. “Hello?”
He took a step forward, then sensed movement behind him. Again, he spun around, just in time to see the heavy iron bar being
swung at his head.

Stacey typed ‘James Bourne’
into the Rediunyn-Dananic search engine. Then read the results.
James Bourne- Merta Ran
James Bournemouth- Klypto

Her eyes flicked back up to the
one third from the bottom. The ‘James Bourne’ Incident? She remembered that. She clicked on the link, and read
the information:
On
September 12th
1997, a raid on the council building resulted
in the entire council and five extra hostages being held at gun point by the group Phogolini. Phogolini asked for a ransom
cost of one million British pounds to be paid by the rest of the island, or all of them would be killed and the building blown
up. The situation was defused by the extra hostages, led by Meena Ran Stacey Mackenzie. This was named The 'James Bourne' Incident after a fake drivers license was found on the premises.
There were images underneath.
Stacey looked at them closely. She brought one up of herself, blurry though it was. She stared at the fuzzy face of the man
holding a gun to her head. Then it clicked. “Shit!” She hit the contact button to get in touch with the rest of
Rediunyn Jr. “Guys! Get back here! It’s a hoax! You-” A shot went off, and the contact station blew up.
There was a definite click and something cold and metallic was pressed to the back of her head.
