Chapter Ten
“NO, LEAVE ME ALONE!! WHO ARE YOU?!?! HELP ME!! PLEASE!! GET ME OUT OF HERE!! HE’S
HERE! OH, GOD! NO! PLEASE, DON’T! DON’T!” There was another scream. He recognised that voice. It was
Jessica. But she seemed hysterical. She’d never been this bad before. “GET
AWAY FROM ME!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?! DON’T KILL ME, PLEASE! I’LL DO ANYTHING! ANYTHING!!!” Matt’s
heart felt heavy as he listened to her. She was reliving the night that she was killed.
“Is
there anything I can do?” he asked, not even turning to see if James had arrived, he always seemed to be there when
he wasn’t wanted anyway…
There
appeared to be a mirror in every room. He was, indeed, in the living room one. “Nope.
It’s her horror, not ours. You know what this means, don’t you?”
“What?”
“She always freaks out like this the night evening before he appears.” James
smiled at Matt, pity in his blue eyes. “Enjoy your last few hours. I recommend
getting drunk. It’s harder to run, but you won’t be as clear minded. I’ve been told it takes some of the
fear out of it.”
“NO!! JUST GO!! GET OUT OF HERE!! YOU CAN’T DO THIS!! YOU JUST CAN’T!! GO!
GET AWAY!! LEAVE!!”
Matt
felt all the strength drain out of him. “God. No. I don’t want… I don’t…”
“Then run.”
“I
can’t.”
“Then die.”

Matt
lay in his bed that night, his head buzzing. His heart thumping with fear he’d never felt before. He couldn’t
believe it. He thought he didn’t believe it. But now he was so close to it, he couldn’t conceal the raw terror
that was eating away at him. He wanted to sleep. A long, deep sleep. Then he wanted to wake up in the morning to discover
that he was still alive. However, sleep took ages to come to an alert brain.
